It means that students can be instructed to determine the final answer and then go backward to choose proper steps to find that answer. It is true that this strategy can’t be learnt overnight, but it should be possible for students to establish proper logical patterns. It should be quite easy for students to learn the likely pathways of solving mathematical problems.
